Summer Time, Idle Time? Unfortunately Not

My goal (which I set for myself at the beginning of 2016) to post at least one update per month is in immanent danger as we approach the end of August and no news have appeared in the blog-section of my webpage.

A good excuse would be to say that I have been lazy, enjoying the summer at the beach or at least a lake, doing nothing. Unfortunately, that is not the case and not only because summer as we know it (ie. temperatures above autumn’s average and more than four hours of sunshine per day) has only materalised in the last few days.

No, the reason for falling silent was some major work wave that swept over me and glued me to my laptop, drowning my inclination to sit down again in the evening to write something for this page.

Two articles have to be written (and it seems: by me!), a third one looms at the horizon, the proof-reading of my PhD-thesis (to be published by Palgrave, eventually) took up way too much time and apart from that — or is that actually a priority? — I am still hunting for a new job, in- or outside of academia.

While I am still in the midst of all this, right now I feel a quick surge of positive energy because I have fulfilled my promise to have something new on this page at least once per month. And I realise that I have just written a very typical blog-post: Completely self-absorbed, oblivious to the outside world and, after all, not much more than a prolonged status update that would have sufficed as a text message to those really interested.
